Author Guidelines

Preparing for Submission. Submitted manuscripts should follow the recommendations:

Language. Manuscripts must be written in grammatically and linguistically correct English – British or American as long as consistency is preserved. Manuscripts that do not meet this standard will not be reviewed. Authors less familiar with English usage are advised to ask to seek the help of English-speaking colleagues or to subject the manuscript to professional language editing.

Ethics and consent. When reporting experiments on human subjects or animals, please indicate whether the procedures followed were approved by the appropriate ethics committee and /or in accordance with the Helsinki Declaration of 1975, as revised in 2008. Analogously, in case of report on experiments on animals or recombinant DNA, it has to be indicated whether the appropriate guide (institutional/national) for the care and use of laboratory animals was followed and facilities and guidelines were conform to those of the National Institutes of Health (or corresponding institutions), respectively.

Acknowledgements. Contributors of the manuscript who do not meet the criteria for authorship, e.g. pure technical or writing assistance, should be listed in an acknowledgement section. Financial and material support should be also acknowledged.

Conflict of interest. Authors are required to disclose any potential sources of conflict of interest. Any interest or relationship, personal or financial, that might be considered as an influence of an author's objectivity, is a potential source of conflict of interest. If there is no conflict to declare, this has to be stated at submission. The corresponding author is responsible for the co-authors.

Manuscript Layout. The submitted manuscript should follow the layout specified in this LaTeX template.

Figures. Upon acceptance supply graphs/photos in sufficient resolution or in vector format (e.g. eps, pdf). Text inside the graphs should have a similar size then the caption. The corresponding author is responsible that data reproduced from another source is properly cited and that written permission from the authors/copyright holders to use previously published information is obtained.

Supplements. Online data supplements are encouraged as an enhancement to the paper. It can consist of e.g. expanded methods or results, additional figures or tables or video files. The maximum size of each file is limited to 64 MB.
